Chris Jones spoke to SKWEEK after Red Star’s win over Olympiacos, reflecting on his team’s late possessions and explaining what inspired his Damian Lillard celebration.
Red Star built the lead it wanted before Olympiacos fought back in the second half. Jones said his team had expected that response and credited a handful of late possessions with helping Red Star close out the win.
After hitting a big three late in the game, Jones celebrated like Damian Lillard. Steph, an assistant coach with his team last season, had given him the idea. It came back to Jones as soon as the shot went in.

“We came in, executed our game plan. We kind of got the lead that we wanted, but we kind of fell off, you know, second half. We knew they were going to fight back. Great team. They’re the champions for a reason. I mean, but we stayed with it, and we had some key possessions at the end to help us get the win.”
On his big three and whether he celebrated like Lillard:
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. My assistant coach last year, Steph, he gave me the idea of that, and when I made that shot, it kind of went through my head, so.”
