Wimbledon’s opening weekend always attracts famous faces from outside the tennis world.
This time, one of them was impossible to miss.
Standing 208 centimeters tall, former Serbian international, EuroLeague MVP and NBA champion Nemanja Bjelica was spotted watching Donna Vekić’s practice session on Court 5 at Aorangi Park, the practice complex of the All England Club.
Bjelica has largely stayed out of the public eye recently, particularly following the passing of his father, Milovan Bjelica, whom he often described as the person who had the greatest influence on his basketball career.
Vekić, a Wimbledon semifinalist in 2024, begins another campaign in London this week, while Bjelica was among those watching her final preparations ahead of the tournament.
Earlier this year, the former Fenerbahçe forward stepped down from his role as sporting director of Turkish club Bahçeşehir.
For the time being, he has no immediate plans to return to basketball in any role.
