Dubai against Hapoel looked like a close contest on paper. It ended in a 97-83 home win, with Filip Petrusev leading the scoring and playing a major part in the result. His performance deserves a little more attention before the EuroLeague schedule moves us on to the next game.
The Serbian big man finished with 20 points in just 16 minutes and 51 seconds, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 on two-pointers and 8-for-9 from the foul line. Almost flawless. He needed less than 17 minutes to deliver the kind of scoring contribution many players would happily take over an entire game.
What stands out is how much he produced in that time. Every two-point attempt went in, his free throws added another eight points, and Hapoel could not contain his scoring. In a matchup of this quality, that efficiency carries real weight.
With so many familiar names on Dubai’s roster, there are plenty of players competing for attention. Petrusev deserves a bigger share of it. Against Hapoel, he showed just how much he can add to the offence without needing extended minutes on the floor.
One night cannot define a season. It can certainly give us a reason to watch the next one more closely, though. Petrusev has earned that much.
Convincing win for @dubaibasket over @HapoelTLVBC to level their head-to-head record! #EveryGameMatters https://t.co/ZxTyRRc3Nl
