Giannis Antetokounmpo is no longer a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, as he has been traded to the Miami Heat in one of the biggest deals in recent NBA history.
Milwaukee is sending the Greek superstar and Bobby Portis to Miami, receiving in return Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., three first-round picks (including the No.13 pick in this year’s Draft), and one second-round pick.
In Miami, Antetokounmpo joins forces with Bam Adebayo, as the Heat make a clear and aggressive push to return to the top of the NBA under the leadership of Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra.
According to ESPN, Giannis is open to signing a contract extension, with his current deal set to pay him $58.4 million for the 2026/27 season and including a player option worth $62.8 million for 2027/28.
Starting January 6, he will be eligible either to opt out of his current contract and sign a four-year deal worth $275 million with the Heat, or to exercise his player option and negotiate a three-year extension worth $214 million.
