With LeBron James gone after eight years, the Lakers are now officially Luka Doncic’s team and the Slovenian superstar is getting ready to show us a version of himself we’ve never seen before.
Luka Doncic is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in the NBA. With the new season just around the corner, the Lakers superstar looks more ready than ever — and judging by his transformation, the league is in trouble.
Five months were enough…
Once again, Luka showed that all he needs is a few months to transform himself into an even more dangerous version of the player we already know. From May 2025 to August, he managed to fully lock in and build a genuinely athletic physique -one that makes you wonder what exactly is coming once the season gets underway. Now that he has fully taken the reins of the Lakers, Doncic is coming to prove that he is the MVP of the NBA – and we’re so here for it.
Baby momma drama
Even though he spent the whole summer at the gym, Luka seemed to be in some serious trouble in the summer. To be completely fair, the Slovenian NBA star had quite an eventful summer, finding himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons… After splitting from his fiancée, he also had to deal with a reported $50 million child-support claim, which was later dismissed.

Squad up in Slovenia
Despite everything, Luka didn’t let any of it throw him off track. Instead, he organized a special mini-camp and invited the entire Lakers squad to Slovenia for an unforgettable four-day trip filled with workouts, golf, and plenty of time together away from the court -all with one goal in mind: building chemistry and bringing the team closer together.
This is Luka’s team now
Everything feels different around Luka Doncic this offseason -his body, his role, and the expectations. Only one thing remains exactly the same: his mindset. With the Lakers officially in his hands, there are no more excuses and nowhere to hide. This is his team, his moment and, potentially, his league. A locked-in Luka has always been scary. A stronger, fitter and fully motivated Luka with something to prove? That might be a whole different problem for the NBA.
The message is simple: new body, same Luka -but maybe the best version we’ve ever seen.
